June 1973The Japanese Society for Cancer of the Colon and Rectum (JSCCR) was established. Dr. Dennosuke Jinnai (Professor, Second Department of Surgery, Osaka University Medical School) was chosen as the first president.
In order to prepare the “General Rules of Japanese Classification of Colorectal Carcinoma,” the General Rules Committee, which consisted of mainly surgeons and pathologists, was formed. Prof. Dennosuke Jinnai was chosen as the chairperson for surgery and Dr. Kunio Ota (Director, Tokyo Metropolitan Institute of Gerontology and Professor, Department of Pathology, Graduate School of Medicine, The University of Tokyo), the chairperson for pathology.
August 1974 The 1st Meeting of the JSCCR was held in Osaka (Person in charge: Prof. Dennosuke Jinnai).
February 1975 The 2nd Meeting of the JSCCR was held in Tokyo (Person in charge: Dr. Tamaki Kajitani, Director, The Cancer Institute Hospital).
Thereafter, the JSCCR meetings have been held twice a year.
July 1975JSCCR Regulations were established.
October 1977The 1st Edition of “General Rules for Clinical and Pathological Studies on Cancer of the Colon, Rectum and Anus” was published.
October 1997The 1st English Edition of “Japanese Classification of Colorectal Carcinoma, Japanese Society for Cancer of the Colon and Rectum” was published.
July 2005“JSCCR Guidelines 2005 for the Treatment of Colorectal Cancer” for physicians was published.
January 2006“JSCCR guidelines for patients” was published.
July 2012“JSCCR Guidelines 2012 for the Clinical Practice of Hereditary Colorectal Cancer” was published.
